Judge Jenny Wells is honored to serve as a District Court Judge in North Carolina’s First Judicial District and is the only candidate in this race currently serving on the District Court bench.
 

A native Northeastern North Carolinian, Judge Jenny is a proud graduate of Dare County Public Schools. She earned her undergraduate degree from Tulane University and her law degree from Campbell University School of Law before returning home to serve the community that raised her.
 

For 11 years, Judge Jenny served as a Public Defender in the First Judicial District, representing thousands of individuals in a wide variety of cases and ensuring that everyone was treated with dignity and fairness under the law.
 

In March 2025, Judge Jenny was appointed to the District Court bench by Governor Josh Stein after being the top vote-getter among attorneys in the district. Since taking the bench, Judge Jenny approaches each case with fairness, patience, and an open mind.
